Radio Holland and Imtech Marine & Offshore Partners in technology

At the upcoming Europort exhibition from 3 to 6 November two renowned companies; Radio Holland Netherlands and Imtech Marine & Offshore will present themselves under the Imtech Marine Group brand. The Imtech Marine Group stand is on the same location where Radio Holland Netherlands was located for many years, booth number 1.121 in Hall 1. Radio Holland adds Ku-band footprint to its global VSAT network

Seamless coverage at all major shipping routes around the world

In August 2009, Radio Holland signed an agreement for the VSAT Ku-band footprint T11N. With this new footprint Radio Holland significantly improves its network for VSAT. The Telstar 11N is designed to be a Ku-band satellite with an Atlantic Ocean beam. This beam is very important for the shipping industry, sailing between North-America and Europe. The extension adds to the strategic priority of Radio Holland to provide seamless global coverage of maritime broadband communications.

The Sea Tel Model 4009 Ku Broadband-at-Sea

Radio Holland introduces the 4009 Ku antenna, the latest innovation in VSAT marine stabilized antenna systems incorporating the latest technology in optimal reflector performance and vertical isolation characteristics. The platform is designed to withstand the most demanding sea conditions imaginable along with the most versatile mounting configurations for BUC and transceiver options. A standard RF 'TUNED' radome ensures the best RF performing radome in the maritime market. Reliability in design has been the driving force behind this new model with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

The Sea Tel 09 Series utilizes the DAC 2202 Antenna Control Unit. The DAC 2202 is a 19” rack mount unit. Dual Antenna configuration with arbitrator available.

Regulations news S-VDR and Inland AIS

S-VDR implementation ends 1 July 2010

The time to comply to the SOLAS carriage requirement to fit a S-VDR on board existing vessels (built before 1 July 2002) of 3000 gt and upwards but less than 20.000 gt the carriage requirement to fit an S-VDR expires on 1 July 2010. A flag state exemption is allowed for ships which are taken permanently out of service within two years after this implementation date.

Please contact our Radio Holland’s sales staff if your vessel(s) does not yet comply to these carriage requirements.

Inland AIS- subsidized implementation in The Netherlands

A mandatory requirement to fit an Inland-AIS is not yet in place however the port authorities of Antwerp require vessels to be equipped with an inland AIS from 1 March 2011 while the Rotterdam port authorities has announced such a requirement for 2012.

Apart from AIS-pilots projects, where Inland-AIS is supplied free of charge (participation is closed) Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch government) has issued a subsidized implementation plan for 7000 vessels which runs from 1 January 2009 until 31 December 2012. The rules and conditions for participation are not yet published by Rijkswaterstaat but are expected soon.

The best source to keep you updated on inland-AIS is via the website of Bureau Telematica Binnenvaart (www.binnenvaart.org). Radio Holland is ready to support our customers with type approved AIS equipment and an approved service organization for the installation and inspection of Inland-AIS equipment (http://www.ivw.nl/onderwerpen/binnenvaart/overzicht_erkende_organisaties/index.aspx).

The Falcon line is the newest inland shipping navigation range of Radio Zeeland. With a sharp, modern design Falcon will fit perfectly on each inland shipping bridge. The unique Falcon products form an innovative and multifunctional concept, taking a giant leap forward in the total integration of data supply on each inland shipping vessel. The captain obtains easy access to the required information or functionality at his place of choice on the bridge. Innovative, efficient, eye catching, user friendly and functional are the characteristics of the Falcon line.

Radio Holland, as main distributor of Radio Zeeland, introduces the Falcon River radar with a 19” full color display and a control unit completely designed in the Falcon Line glass panel style. The radar can easily be connected to an AIS, rate of turn and rudder angle indicator.

Reliable AIS performance for safe navigation

The FA-150 Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponder is designed to improve navigation safety by observing other AIS equipped vessels. The FA-150 (inland version) can provide you with a solution for open sea cruise and inland navigation. It complies with relevant international regulations and standards as well as international class requirements and Inland AIS requirements.

The FA-150 can be interfaced with Radar and Inland ECDIS, allowing AIS information to be displayed. For inland use, the FA-150 has the Blue Sign port. Blue Sign information helps you recognize the approaching vessels in your area.

MSA: the very best service levels

Having the very best service levels possible is a key part of the Radio Holland Group (RHG) philosophy. The RH Managed Services Agreements (MSA) lie at the very heart of this quality service strategy. Paul Smulders, Global Operations Manager of Radio Holland Group, outlines the concept.

"While maintenance services are necessary to keep the equipment on board in good working order, ship owners and operators require the cost of maintenance to be realistic and the investment in maintenance to be as cost efficient as possible. We acknowledged there must be a more effective way of carrying out maintenance services that would be more efficient for the customer. With an MSA, ship owners and operators can benefit from the full, and if required global, coordination capability of Radio Holland, as well as the technical support and knowledge of a group of electronics experts, to support the vessels which are entrusted to us. Fleet managers were the first to show interest in the MSA because “they know that every extra penny being spent impacts the bottom-line”. Among the owners, former P&O Nedlloyd was one of the first MSA customers, ending up with 60 vessels under contract".

At the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (October 29 – November 2) three companies of the Imtech Marine Group join forces in one combined booth, Y&B 763H, at the Holland Yachting Group pavilion (HYG): Radio Holland Group, Imtech Marine & Offshore and Free Technics. FT NavVision®: a powerful modular conning system

FT NavVision® is a powerful modular conning, monitoring & control system for maritime applications. It replaces all instrumentation, alarm panels and switchboards and allows control and monitoring of all data and equipment such as engines, generators, pumps, refrigeration and hydraulic systems. It is possible to use each module standalone or to combine it with other modules. A close eye was kept on the ease of control and the use of touch-screen technology. FT NavVision® is a flexible and easy-to-use system that is one of the most reliable and easy to install systems for vessel-navigation and control. Service, if needed, can be arranged by remote maintenance.
